Digital TV Recorders
What are the Advantages of Digital TV Recorders
Unlike old VCRs or indeed DVD recorders, Digital TV Recorders record your favorite TV shows and movies directly on their hard drive. As a result there is no need to store piles of cassettes or DVDs. Also, unlike old VCRs, there is no risk of your recording deteriorating in quality the more times you watch it. You do not need to worry about running out of space as most units have several hours worth of recording space available. The TiVo P
remiere for example has 45 hours whereas the TiVo Premiere XL has 150 hours. Some units allow you to record in HD quality, in which case the mount of recording space is reduced significantly. Most units can pause live TV, allow you to rewind and replay scenes in slow motion.
The latest breed of Digital TV Recorders also allow you to access an on-demand video library, to access the internet and to access a music service. Things have certainly moved on from the VCR.
Some Things to Consider About Digital TV Recorders
Before purchasing digital TV recorders you should check that what you intending to buy will work with your TV provider. Most units will work fine with cable providers, but you should check carefully if you subscribe to a satellite provider. Before deciding on which model to buy you should also consider what functions you require – for example do you want access to a range of movies and access to the internet, or are you content with simply being able to record your favorite TV series.
